Linkclump Plus Chrome Extension Analysis

Listing positioning

Linkclump Plus is positioned as an updated, Manifest V3-compliant fork of the linkclump-ng and original Linkclump utilities. It markets itself as a tool to drag a selection box around multiple links using a mouse and customizable hotkeys to open, copy, or bookmark them all at once. The developer also explicitly outlines platform constraints regarding Chrome's updated visited link history specifications.

Inferred product pattern

Community-maintained, free open-source utility fork targeting tab and workflow optimization.

Review-backed pain points

The most significant pain points identified in reviews include instances where the extension completely fails to trigger or display the selection box on hotkey press, and the persistent issue of opened links remaining un-visited (not changing color to purple) due to native browser platform updates.

Observed feature gaps

One review notes that the extension injects hidden empty span tags under a custom '<linkclump-plus>' element, which can interfere with text editors and web pages. Additionally, users express frustration about Chrome's security-driven isolation of visited link colors, which the extension currently cannot bypass natively.

Support

The developer explicitly states in the listing description that individual support is not offered because the tool is free, pointing users to their public GitHub repository. No support complaints were observed in the review sample.

Reliability

Several negative reviews report that the extension has stopped working entirely, fails to create selection boxes on click-and-drag, or has stopped consistently copying URLs.

Privacy

No malicious privacy leaks were reported, though one user complained about the extension injecting custom HTML markup directly into pages.
